Welsh Terriers
Looking for a New Home

Many rescue Welsh terriers never make it to this page. That is because people with an application already on file are matched with the particular needs of the dog, and are contacted directly by a WTCARES volunteer. If you would like to be considered for a WT that comes into our program, you should have an application on file with the CARES contact closest to you.

Sasha

Sasha is a 10-year-old spayed female and former AKC champion. She is affectionate, friendly, playful, quiet and curious. She is very healthy except for an occasional (every 6 weeks to 2 months) seizure, a condition her vet did not think was serious and did not think warranted treating. She loves to ride in the car and go for walks and knows basic commands. She can be trusted in the house by herself, since she doesn't chew and is well housetrained. Sasha just wants to sit in your lap or be by your side. Unfortunately, her former owners had to move to a place where they could not have a dog. Sasha needs to be the only dog in a cat-free household! Sasha is in foster care in Pennsylvania.

Editorial Note: We often get applicants who have cats, and sometimes pets like gerbils, rabbits, etc. Welsh terriers were originally bred to hunt and kill small animals. Unless a WT has been raised with a cat, he or she will probably regard cats and other small animals as prey. There are training techniques that can result in a successful tolerance, but we don't like to rely on that happening when placing a dog. And I wouldn't ever trust a Welsh terrier with a rodent or rabbit.
